Reate EXO V2 T/E Gravity Knife Titanium PVD Handle w/ Titanium Heat Color Inlay PVD/Satin Tanto Blade

The EXO is a manual gravity OTF knife. It is operated by pinching the handle scales and dropping the frame at an angle. The blade slides in and out manually with the force of gravity. This is a gen 2 version of the original EXO from Reate. It now has a safety, just like the smaller Exo-M version, but it can also be swapped to the other side for lefties.

This model features a PVD titanium handle with heat color titanium inlays. PVD with satin flats on the ELMAX tanto blade. Brand new in box.

I bought this for myself as a reward for completing an online certification on time, and I don't regret it at all despite the high price. The titanium handle feels super solid and had a nice weight to it. The blade extends and retracts smoothly with gravity with a lovely, loud Wolverine "snik" that makes this a great fidget toy. The heat treated inlays look awesome and unique, and the two-tone tanto blade looks bad-ass. The tip of the blade is unbelievably pointy. I'm glad that for V2 they've added a thumb lock and pocket clip; I find those must-haves. At least one YouTube review has pointed out some play in the blade while extended, but if you just grip the handle with a normal amount of pressure there is ZERO play in the blade. The heaviest action this thing is ever going to see is opening envelopes at my desk, but as long as I'm opening letters, there is no reason why I shouldn't feel like an assassin in a William Gibson novel while doing it!

I picked up two of these Reate EXO's. I like them -- very fidget-friendly, and they just sound cool. I have both the Titanium inlay version and the Black Micarta version. The Micarta version feels considerably lighter than the titanium one. But there seems to be much confusion among the various retailers about the actual weights of these new EXO's. Some sites say 4.8 or 4.9 oz for both the Micarta and the Titanium version. Some say 5.0 or 5.1 for both. Even Reate's own website lists them both at 5.07 oz. This is clearly not the case. So I broke out the digital kitchen scale to clear things up. On my scale, otherwise known to be accurate, the Micarta version is 4.8 oz, and the Titanium one is 5.3 oz. A full half ounce difference. Both of the EXO's I have are the Tanto blade versions, so the weight difference is coming from the inlays. Now you know,
