Description

Spyderco Phil Wilson Southfork Fillet
Made in Taichung, Taiwan

Phil Wilson was bitten by the knifemaking bug in 1985 while filleting cod. He discovered painfully, and first-hand, that he preferred knives with a finger-guard segregating the blade from the handle which stopped the hand from sliding forward onto the cutting edge. The result of his preference is his Southfork fixed blade with an obvious finger-guard to position the fingers on the handle in a safe ergonomic cutting position. Phil Wilson’s passion for fishing motivated him to start crafting fillet knives that are now used by serious fishermen all over the world. In addition to fishing, his keen interest in metallurgy led him to experiment with grinding and heat treating techniques to make long blades hard enough to hold an edge, yet offer some flexibility. For this he has become well regarded for his outdoor sports and fishing blades.

His Southfork is made of CPM-S90V and is ground fully-flat with a thin cutting edge. CPM-S90V is a unique tool steel made by the Crucible Particle Metallurgy process. It is a martensitic stainless steel with added vanadium and carbon for superior wear resistance but also has impressive corrosion resistance. The blade sweeps upward at the tip with just the right amount of belly for field dressing, cleaning and any outdoor chore. Green G-10 handle scales are pinned onto a full-tang with a lined lanyard hole for backup attachment in water or woods. A Boltaron sheath with a multi-positional G-Clip positions the knife for left or right-hand draw, use and carry. Brand new in box.

Features:
Blade Material: CPM-S90V Stainless Tool Steel
Handle Material: Green G-10
Blade Length: 4-1/2
Closed Length: 9-5/8
Weight: 5.3 oz
