The Solo is one of Spyderco's finest folding knives, I bought one over 20 years ago, & use it on a regular basis....and it is still in VERY good condition and has retained a "like new" sharpness! The serrated edge will make short work of any rope...as it has some of the sharpest most aggressive "teeth" on any knife I have ever had. The knife is thin & light...so it makes for easy pocket carry. Fit & finish is superb...tight & precise....the blade lock is strong & reliable under stress yet easy to unlock with light thumb pressure. And the thumb stud is just the right size & positioned just right for easy/quick opening & closing. Deploying the blade with a flick of your wrist is very easy with this knife, & the authoritative "click" heard when the blade snaps into place is attention getting indeed. All things considered... this is a considerable pocket knife... & anyone who has one, should consider themselves lucky :)
