The story of the Bowie began on a sandbar of the Mississippi River above Natchez, Mississippi on September 19, 1827. A brawl that eventually involved Col. James Jim Bowie, who, having been shot and stabbed, successfully defended himself killing Major Norris Wright and wounding Alfred Blanchard with what onlookers described as a large butcher knife. This and other tales of Bowie's abilities with a knife led to the widespread popularity of what became known as the Bowie knife. This elegant recreation offers a hardwood handle accented by the gold-plated blade catcher and guard which are reminiscent of the styling of original bowies. The classic 14-Inch Damascus steel blade is folded to an astounding 3456 layers. Included is a genuine leather sheath with brass plated star and Hibben Knives logo. These are serial numbered.
